So how does Lakewood’s safety rank in comparison to other towns and cities in America?
According to a report out today, Lakewood ranks 48 of the top 101 safest cities with a population over 50,000.
The FBI data is compiled from information provided by 13,366 law enforcement agencies. They also used the Chapman University Survey of American Fears to highlight the crime rates of what Americans fear most, between violent crime and property crime rates.
“Our results show hundreds of cities that have very low rates of crime, giving you peace of mind,” said SafeHome.org. “New Jersey had the most, with 18 cities in our top 101 safest cities. California was next with 17 cities, followed by Illinois with 11 cities, most of which were located in the suburbs of Chicago. Here are a few facts:
- Greenwich, CT was ranked the No. 1 safest city in America.
- Pflugerville, TX was ranked the No. 101 safest city in America.
- New Jersey ranked No. 1 with 18 cities in the top 101 safest cities.
- California was No. 2 with 17 cities and Illinois No. 3 with 11 cities.
Apparently when they say safe they aren’t including the safety on the roads.
Lkwdgirl – you got that right!
I’m glad Lakewood Scoop decided to post this because you will NOT see this in the mainstream media. Hmmmm. I wonder why…
And what was Lakewood a few years ago in safety compared to now 48th place? Did our safety go up or down?
Personally I think it has gotten worse over the last few years from more dangerous drivers to more robberies etc…
WHAT do you feel about the safety of our Lakewood community? Let us know your opinion how safe are YOU feeling while living in Lakewood. Are you scared at night of surprise robberies? As lots of cars are robbed each shabbos
Interesting, Jackson, Howell and Brick are also on the list
