Mueller Report: No Collusion, No Obstruction: Special Counsel Robert Mueller turned in his final report to Attorney General Bill Barr, in which no evidence was shown to corroborate allegations of collusion with Russia or obstruction of justice by President Trump. While Barr made clear that the report did not directly exonerate Trump, there was no reason to believe, based on what was unearthed during Mueller’s investigation, that the president had done any of the things the Democrats have accused him of for the past two years. A clearly exultant Trump tweeted “No Collusion, No Obstruction, Complete and Total EXONERATION. KEEP AMERICA GREAT!”
Avenatti Arrested – Michael Avenatti, the lawyer for Trump and Kavanaugh accusers, was arrested and charged for attempting to extort $20 million from Nike. Avenatti told a Nike official that if his demands were not met, he would use his fame to tank Nike’s stock value. In an ironic twist, Avenatti, who for months claimed that President Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr. was going to be indicted, was charged for breaking the law just a day after Mueller’s report showed no wrongdoing by Trump or Trump Jr.
Trump Recognizes Golan As Part Of Israel – During a visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Trump signed a proclamation recognizing the disputed Golan Heights as being part of Israel. The proclamation reverses over 50 years of US policy in which the Golan Heights was not considered to be Israel, but rather disputed land. Before rushing back to Israel to deal with bombardments from Gaza, Netanyahu told Trump “Israel has never had a better friend than you.”
Smollett Charges Dropped – Jussy Smollett caught a massive break after prosecutors dropped charges against the actor for filing a false police report and hate crime. Smollett had caused a national controversy after allegedly telling police he had been beaten by two white men in Chicago, a story which was proven to be fake. Chicago’s Mayor Rahm Emanuel called the decision to drop charges a “whitewash of justice.” No reason was immediately given as to why the charges were dropped.
Trump Sides With Abolishing Obamacare – After failing to get Congress to repeal and replace Obamacare two years ago, the Trump administration put the issue to the side, but not anymore. In a court filing, Justice Department wrote that they support the complete abolishment of the Affordable Care Act or Obamacare, in line with a ruling from a judge on the Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit who declared the law unconstitutional. In a Thursday tweet, President Trump wrote “The Republican Party will become the Party of Great HealthCare! ObamaCare is a disaster, far too expensive and deductibility ridiculously high – virtually unusable! Moving forward in Courts and Legislatively!”
Trump Threatens To Shut Mexico Border – Due to the ongoing crisis of illegal immigrants pouring through the border with Mexico, on Friday morning President Trump threatened that he would completely shut down all border crossings with Mexico if the Mexican government didn’t take action. In a series of three tweets, Trump wrote “The DEMOCRATS have given us the weakest immigration laws anywhere in the World. Mexico has the strongest, & they make more than $100 Billion a year on the U.S. Therefore, CONGRESS MUST CHANGE OUR WEAK IMMIGRATION LAWS NOW, & Mexico must stop illegals from entering the U.S. .through their country and our Southern Border. Mexico has for many years made a fortune off of the U.S., far greater than Border Costs. If Mexico doesn’t immediately stop ALL illegal immigration coming into the United States through our Southern Border, I will be CLOSING… ….the Border, or large sections of the Border, next week. This would be so easy for Mexico to do, but they just take our money and “talk.” Besides, we lose so much money with them, especially when you add in drug trafficking etc.), that the Border closing would be a good thing!”
