Five pets died in a Brick home fire today, police say.

At approximately 11:25am, a passerby noticed smoke coming from 94 Primrose Lane and called 9-1-1. Herbertsville and Laurelton fire companies and police and EMS responded.

Upon arrival, the fire department found a working structure fire at that residence. A 2nd alarm was transmitted and Breton Woods and Pioneer Hose Fire Companies were dispatched to assist. Ramtown and Point Pleasant fire companies were dispatched for a FAST team and cover assignment.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within 15 minutes.

The residents were not home at the time and there were no reported injuries.

Five pets were found deceased inside the unit, two dogs and three cats.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Brick Township Fire Bureau and Brick police detectives.
