Beth Medrash Govoha is has entered into contract for the purchasing of Woodlake Country Club, according to documents obtained by TLS.
BMG’s Rabbi Aaron Kotler says the Yeshiva is looking into the possibility of developing a campus at the approximately 125 acre golf course situated on the East side of town.
Should the sale go through and become the next BMG campus, it’s expected to ease up traffic at the Yeshiva’s flagship location and surrounding areas. It would be an easier drive for Talmidim at the East and South ends of Lakewood, as well as Talmidim from Toms River – by coming straight up New Hampshire Avenue.
In the interim, the Yeshivah has entered into a short-term lease with the vacant Woodlake Country Club building, which is now being renovated and prepared for a New Bais Medrash.
“The Yeshiva anticipates using the building on an interim basis as an additional Bais Medrash Study Hall, allowing those who live on that side of Lakewood to have a Bais Medrash nearby,” Rabbi Kotler told TLS. “The Yeshiva has begun minor repairs and upgrades to the building, including restriping the parking lots and fire lanes, upgrading the interior and exterior lighting fixtures to LED, repairing the building’s air conditioning system, installing a new fire safety system, installing safety fencing where needed, and doing a full code compliance review.”
In addition to a Bais Medrash which will be located in the former ballroom of the Country Club, the building has other rooms that will be used for Chaburah rooms, a library, coffee room, Roshei Chaburah offices, and a small breakfast and lunch room. The building will have the full amenities found in the Yeshiva’s other Batei Medrashim.
“The Yeshiva is also exploring turning the Country Club as a permanent Bais Medrash,” says Rabbi Kotler.
The Yeshiva is expected to move into the building around Shvuos time.
this is practically in Brick, not too man yidden there yet. A campus down the 9 would be way more beneficial for everyone
Good Point.
I would vote for your idea any day!
Guess you live down the 9. There are plenty of people in raintree, off route 88, and other areas near New Hampshire as evidenced by the volume of traffic in the area.
and….what about the actual golf course?? developing it into condos or leaving it for the students to use as a park??
BMG East!!!!!!
Perhaps BMG can first advocate New Hampshire to be made into 2 lanes for the rest of that section prior to bringing in the traffic .
Rt 88 will need to be widened to accommodate the extra traffic
R’ Ahron. This is a day that we have all been waiting for. Unbelievable! There is no real public Beis Medrash in that area, and there are so many developments that have sprung up within the last couple years. There are for sure over 1000 families that are within a ten minute drive, and we are sure to all enjoy this wonderful Beis Medrash.
Thank you!
The left turning light from Rt 88 onto New Hampshire has to be fixed before adding tons more traffic. The turning light currently only turns on every OTHER light signal.
Route 88 cant be widened because the zoning /planning board allowed all those duplexes right up to the street. Sad that tgere is no planning in this town.
hope they keep the pool. excellant place to keep cool and get some R&R excersize
Can New Hampshire go throw to County Line Road?
It already does….sorta… make a right at the end and you hit County Line Road. And the connecting section is being upgraded now.
Would be an awesome spot to have a KumIt there tonight .
Maybe we can do all the Bochrim and Rosh Hayeshiva hand in hand and Moshiach will come.
Whatdya think?
