Family cancels Pesach in Lakewood due to Measles outbreak

An out-of-town family who was to spend Pesach in Lakewood has canceled after learning about the measles outbreak, TLS has learned.

The family had booked a place to stay in Lakewood just after Purim, and had already paid for the stay before they canceled upon learning there was an ongoing measles outbreak in Lakewood.

According to the latest count for this outbreak, there were six confirmed cases of measles being reported by the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) in Ocean County.

The first outbreak had a total of 33 confirmed cases and ran from October 2018 to mid-January 2019.

The Department urged all residents to vaccinate before traveling for Pesach.

  1. each of us has the right to make decisions based on what is right for our own families. but none of us has the right to force those decisions on others. i, of course, dont know the particulars in this case, but some people are having to make hard financial decisions such as not being able to go to work for 3 weeks because your child may not go to his usual daycare. who pays for that? or in this case financial liability because of cancelled reservations. measles itself may not cause lasting damage but loss of wages does

  2. A.No offense but why is this news??

B.thats honestly the’re loss if they decide not to come because of some hyped up anti-antivaxer campaign your running just sayin

  3. It’s not anti anti vaxxers. Right now there is a baby and an el al flight attendant that are critical and on respirators because they got measles from anti vaxxers.

    • That is the lying hysteria. They did not get measles because of some so-called antivaxxer. I just read that the attendant got measles, because she only received one vaccine instead of two. The child we were never told that he did not vaccinate. If he was not vaccinated, we would have heard that. So he was vaccinated, and should have been protected. Which shows that the vaccinated people are the ones coming down with these complications from the measles disease.

  4. TLS why do you let these anti- vaxer meshugayim to spread their warped opinions that go against every single doctor. The Torah says to listen to the doctor and the anti vaxer says dont. Who will you listen to?

    • There are doctors in this country who are very concerned with CDC’s overloaded and overly aggressive vaccination schedule, but guess what, the moment they go public – they are targeted by the medical establishment and fear loosing their hard earned medical license!
Many docs world wide are alarmed about constantly increasing rates of chronic illness in over-vaccinated children in industrialized world. The problem is this issue is being made so black and white, so hot button.
It’s just like man made global warming!!!

  5. Why they so worried? If they vaccinated, they should be safe!

It should make us ponder how effective the vaccine is?

Or that maybe everyone should leave anti Vaxxers alone bec they not harming us.

  6. Hay, you don’t want to come? Then don’t! You’ll miss out on this beautiful yom tov. So now you’re hiding under the cover? Just get here and believe that Hashem will protect you. After all it’s Leil Shmurim
