Man tragically killed in Jackson by falling equipment (PHOTOS)

A man was tragically killed when equipment fell on top of him today and pinning him, police say.

At approximately 7:04 am, a 911 call was received from a male subject who was reporting that he was pinned under equipment at the Claytons and Sons Garage, located at 1325 East Veterans Highway. The 911 dispatchers attempted to keep the subject on the phone, but eventually lost contact with the caller.

Responding officers arrived on scene at the property and began a search of the large garage and surrounding area for the male. Fire Department and First Aid personnel also responded to the scene to assist in the search. The search of the large property was widened when the subject was unable to be located near the garage.

“It was at this time that Fire Department personnel located the subject pinned under a piece of equipment near a tree line at the periphery of the property near East Veterans Highwa,” police said.

The victim was unresponsive at this time and he was removed from under the equipment and CPR was begun.

The victim, who was identified as Kenneth Mann, age 58, was then transported to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The initial investigation revealed that it appeared he was attempting to take apart a piece of equipment that was needed elsewhere when it somehow collapsed, pinning him to the ground.

The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department responded to process the scene and OSHA was also contacted to respond.

  1. This is so heartbreaking! My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and may they find comfort and the strength to go on and may they know of no more pain.
