BREAKING – HATE: Lakewood resident injured in anti-Semitic assault on Shabbos

A Lakewood resident was injured in a reported anti-Semitic assault over Shabbos, the victim told TLS exclusively.

At approximately 10:40 PM Friday night, the man was walking with several others along County Line Road when a motorist drove by, and a passenger forcefully threw a hard full bottle of soda at the group while yelling about Jews.

“The person threw it like a rock, really fast, struck me in the stomach, and I went down,” the victim told TLS.

The vehicle, described as a black sedan without lights on, fled towards Brick, the victim said.

The victim says that as of Motzei Shabbos he was still in pain from the incident, and intends to go to the hospital for an evaluation.

A police report is being made.

  1. i was walking on shabbos last week In Jackson and a boy took out a toy Gun and said im going to kill you. This week as I was walking a few cars at different places in Jackson stopped rolled down window and screamed at me.

  2. Anyone surprised?? Local media outlets are OBSESSED with anything Orthodox Jews do. The Nazi Facebook pages cropping up are just the byproduct of what happens when media puts a minority group in their crosshairs. The physical violence against Jews is just the next step in all of this. Wake up to this reality before its too late.

  3. We hear about this all the time, when is something going to be done to stop this put an end to hate? We see what happened in Brick recently where the mayor made a “mistake” and then backtracked after his pathetic tweet. Leaders (or lack thereof) need to be accountable for their actions, specifically those guilty – Jackson and Brick.

  4. What do you expect when you have leaders in jackson and brick who can’t even denounce rise up ocean county, an anti-semetic group that hates Jews… Perhaps they need to stimulate their base to get reelected by making remaining silent and even agreeing with these hateful people.

  5. Fled toward Brick because that’s where they probably come from. Perhaps this incident happened because they don’t want Jews sharing “their” county parks peacefully… Wonder what the Brick Mayor would say about this incident.

  6. 1. Facebook needs to take down their page right away.
    2. A forceful response is needed from everyone. This is a hate crime of an extreme nature. This is very important
    3. A speeding car seems hard to catch, so cameras are essential. Also cameras by route 88

  7. This is nothing short of a hate crime. Someone physically injured while peacefully walking home on the Sabbath just because they are Jewish. What is being done by the authorities to deal with this?

  8. @SK For starters, We need to report these incidents to the authorities, if we don’t report the harassment then nothing will ever be done about it. We need to make sure that elected officials are aware of what is going on out there and lastly we need to be vigilant.

  9. In order to slightly quell the excitement in the media over these type of events, and lend some truth to them, TLS and other websites like it, should make the headline “GALUS” or “EXILE” instead of “HATE”.

  10. There one point that sems to be constantly omitted on this topic. There’s a Creator of the World. We need to daven and do teshuva… we need to think why is hashem doing these things, what is the message. No weapon and no politician will save you if Hashem decrees otherwise.

  11. Maybe we should reach out to the education here in Lakewood because yesterday I was walking home in the Ridge area and kids were chanting Hitler kill Jews heil Hitler and other anti-semitic comments which probably they were told by by others

  12. What about analyzing data and seeing when and where these events occur, trend analysis. Then creating an action plan by having patrol and unmarked vehicles out during those times. More aggressive invention is needed Lakewood Police Chief Meyer.

  13. For those that are interested the units on the traffic lights around town are not cameras they are traffic sensors so don’t keep asking if they caught the offenders. They are sensors only, there are only a few cameras in the town area

  14. There are a lot of cameras in Lakewood, especially near developments and newer homes. With collaboration with Lakewood Police, one has a much higher chance in catching these criminals and bringing them to justice for their hateful actions – assaulting Jewish people. Being assaulted based on ones religious belief is considered a hate crime and is severe in the eyes of the law.
