A bill recently introduced in the New Jersey Assembly is bound to send shockwaves through the anti-vaxxer community. The legislation, sponsored by Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D-Bergen), would allow minors over the age of 14 to receive vaccinations against their parents wishes.
The bill covers vaccinations for 13 diseases, including the measles of which there have been several major outbreaks across the United States. Besides for measles, the legislation allows minors to get vaccinated for polio, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, varicella, Hib, pertussis, tetanis, pneumonia, meningitis, HPV, and Hepatitis B, regardless of whether the minor’s parents or caretakers provide consent.
Existing law already permits married minors and pregnant minors to consent to their own medical and surgical treatment, and it authorizes minors of 17 years of age or older to donate blood by their own consent. This bill wants to extend those same powers of consent to all minors over 14 years of age in regards to their receiving vaccines against a plethora of diseases which have seen a resurgence due to the growing anti-vax community.

This idea that immigrants must be bringing diseases to the country is dangerously racist. We don’t need people using the ‘other’ card to delegitimize people. Us Jews will be the first to suffer from that attitude.
This bill makes me very uncomfortable on more than one level.
This government message to children to bypass their parents will very quickly extend to their peers pressuring them to bypass their parents for all sorts of activities. No one is more protective of a child more than their parents, even if misguided it’s dangerous to suggest this.
On another level once this becomes acceptable then what’s the next government-to-child directive? Probably something much less clear cut.
Same logic should be applied to bills being introduced to remove religious exemptions. What’s will be the next government directive that does not allow for religious exemptions? Bris Milah – Metzitza B’Peh? Shechita? Private schools (aka yeshivos and bais yaakovs) curriculum?

There are thousands of individuals who have been damaged by vaccines that are being categorically ignored.

this is what they do, very slowly change the law, change the law allowing minors a little thing at a time and slowly slowly they will have full control of your kids with very little say allowed from the parents.

There is no proof that they have been damaged by vaccines. NOne at all. Just a belief, a quasi-religious one. ALthough I am not fully aware of which religion this is, it is certainly not mine.
That the government can make our medical, educational, and parenting decisions is extremely troubling…. metzitzah b’peh, forced vaccinations, euthenasia, encouraging teens to disregard their parents, mandating teaching alternative lifestyles and evolution in schools, what’s next?

I think the government should not be in control of our lives. Parents want to do what’s best for their children and if they are anti vaxxers, it is what they believe is best and the government should butt out.
This is fantastic! This is a perfect example of necessary laws to help protect the population. When parents don’t take proper care of their children the law needs to step in to protect them. This is no different than taking action against other forms of child abuse-parents don’t have the right to do whatever they want to their children! I hope it passes very quickly!

A law may being passed in New York State that toys that have mercury, formaldehyde and other toxic chemicals cannot be sold. A few years ago a similar bill was passed in Westchester County. Some flu vaccines have mercury (thimerosal) in them.
Dtap, Tdap, polio, Hep B, meningococcal vaccines have formaldehyde in them.
Can someone explain to me why it is dangerous for a child to play with a toy that has formaldehyde and mercury in it, and it is dangerous to breathe in some mercury vapors, but it is not dangerous when a child gets injected with these same products?
Also maybe someone can explain why the CDC is so clueless when everyone else knows that mercury is dangerous.
On their web page they state,”Thimerosal is a compound that contains mercury. although there is no evidence that thimerosal in vaccines was dangerous, the decision to remove it was made as a precautionary measure…”
They also state that it is still used in multi-dose flu vaccines, and in two other childhood vaccines in the manufacturing process.
Can someone explain to me why playing with toys that have mercury and formaldehyde, and breathing in mercury vapors from floors is dangerous for children, but injecting them with these same chemicals is safe?
While on the subject of chemicals, did you know that they have found glyphosate in vaccines, with the highest levels in the MMR vaccine? You can find this info online.
If there is no proof, how is it the the National Vaccine Injury Court has paid over 4 billion, yes billion, dollars to vaccine injured people? Oh and fun fact, this money comes straight from tax payers not pharma.
