Tuesday May 14th, marked the launch of the “Teach to Reach” Lakewood training course. Since its inception five years ago, the Teach to Reach program has trained hundreds of mechanchim in imparting their talmidim with a lasting and passionate commitment to Yiddishkeit. “This program was created in response to a directive given to us by Rav Elyashiv Zt”l several years ago,” HaRav Shaya Cohen, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Zichron Aryeh and Founder of Priority-1, said “’Training teachers in this fashion is a matter of pikuach nefesh,’ Rav Elyashiv Zt”l told us. Baruch Hashem, we have selected a great group of current and future educators for this course, and we are very excited to help train the next generation of leaders in the field of chinuch.”
A project of Priority-1, the Teach to Reach training course is a 7-week program for current educators or people who intend to enter the world of chinuch. Every generation has its unique challenges and the ways to address them can be found in Chaza”l. At the Teach to Reach program, trainees learn the skills to effectively connect with talmidim in the 21st century al pi da’as Torah. The program aims to train a core set of competencies that are needed by any rebbe or educator to succeed in today’s world. Topics include how to best reach all of our students, how to help them to develop a relationship with Hashem, answering hashkafa questions, imparting a love and appreciation for davening and learning, developing learning skills and so much more. The inaugural class includes 21 participants, many of them currently employed as rebbeim and teachers in various mosdos.
