Trump Slaps Tariffs On Mexico – On Thursday evening, President Trump tweeted that the United States would begin placing tariffs of 5% on all imports from Mexico until the illegal immigrant crisis was solved. The planned tariffs will go into effect on June 10th, and would gradually increase to 25% until the Mexico acts to halt illegal immigration into the United States. In response to the announcement, Mexican president Manuel Lopez Obrador asked Trump to have US and Mexican officials meet in hopes that they could reach an agreement that would be beneficial and satisfactory for both nations.

Mueller Closes Shop – In remarks given at a press conference held at the Department of Justice, Special Counsel Robert Mueller said his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election was complete, and he would be resigning his post. Mueller said that due to DOJ guidelines, prosecuting the president for possible obstruction was never an option. He also said that ample evidence existed showing that Russia made serious efforts to alter the results of the election, and that it is important for every American to take their interference efforts seriously.

After Failed Negotiations, KJU Starts Killing – Following the summit held between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Vietnam, there was hope that the nuclear disarmament of the rogue regime might be possible. But as talks continued, progress stalled, and have gone nowhere in months. Angry and frustrated, Kim Jong Un has reportedly started killing his own advisors and aides involved in the negotiations. Kim Hyok Chol, who led negotiations for North Korea at the summit, was executed by firing squad, along with four other officials from North Korea’s Foreign Ministry. Kim Jong Un’s top aide, Kim Yong Chol, is reportedly undergoing hard labor, also due to the failed talks.

Conservatives And Liberals Working Together? – In today’s highly polarized political atmosphere, it is not often we hear of bipartisan legislation, but Senator Ted Cruz and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are looking to change that. In a Twitter exchange between the two, they agreed on work together on a bill that would bar former members of Congress from becoming lobbyists for life. “If we can agree on a bill with no partisan snuck-in clauses, no poison pills, etc – just a straight, clean ban on members of Congress becoming paid lobbyists – then I’ll co-lead the bill with you,” tweeted OAC at Senator Cruz. “You’re on,” responded Cruz. Former senators are currently barred from lobbying for two years after leaving office, representatives are not allowed to lobby for one year.

Ship Named For McCain Covered During Trump Visit – According to reports by the Wall Street Journal and Washington Post, the White House made sure that President Trump would not encounter the USS John McCain, named after his political foe, during his trip this week to Japan. A tarp was hung over the ship’s name when Trump was in Japan so that he would not see it. The ship’s sailors were given the day off so that Trump would not see their sailor hats which have the name of the ship on them. In a tweet following the report, Trump said he was unaware of any such request made by the White House or anyone in his administration.
