  1. I was just in shaniks office on may 7th and inquired regarding any changes and i was told that there are no changes yet and as of now the contract with United Healthcare is terminating as stated in the signs currently posted all over their offices. Not sure why Shalom and noone else would know about this.

  2. I got the same letter tonight about Michael Golub.
But strangely, I don’t recall getting a letter from them that they were terminating.
Also, I only got it regarding 1 child.
Gonna have to confirm with Pediatric Affiliates if this is some kind of mix up.

  3. Please Dr. Shanik reach a deal with them.
Many doctors in Boro park reached a new deal with United Health care recently, and hopefully you can as well.
Many families will have issues with Dentists, obgyns, therapists, if they need to switch off uhc.
    Thank you.

  4. Amerigroup has very similar coverage and has been growing it’s network for almost three years in all areas including therapies. The best difference is No referrals are needed!

  5. you do not need to be a genius to realize this is false its full of words that are not correct just look the way its written there are many mistakes like saying or stating or telling or inform or just Robert shanik or pediatric …. Why do this how low can u go unless u Wang everyone to call and make a lot of noise so that they renegotiate

    • UnitedHealthcare is incompetent and care little about getting the facts straight. Don’t expect the correspondence to be like the Magna Carta.

  6. Lakewood wake up. This has nothing to do with Dr. Shanik. United is over in Lakewood. in a year from now they will not be an option at all. They have abandoned Lakewood, PERIOD. Amerigroup will be the premium provider in Lakewood. They happen to also be the highest rated insurance co in NJ. And agree as well that they are constantly expanding their network locally and with specialties across the state.

  7. Dr Cohens office reached an agreement at the last secons which was VERY helpful for my family….I would have switched to Amerigroup but my pediatrician, ob/gun and specialists are not accepting it yet. I hope they will shortly because no referals is a BIG help!

  8. You have insurance in case gd forbid a child gets sick. For anything more serious then strep you obviously want to go to chop, one of the highest rated children’s hospital in the world.

Why give up the possibility of using chop by switching out of UHC?

  9. To Chop, it is ppl w your mentality that’s gotten us in the quagmire were in. Which other area in the world do you know has that mentality? That you need to go to world renown hospital for anything outside of strep? In BP they go to Maimonidies for most of their calls and same for other areas and respective local hospitals. That doesn’t mean that specialty hospitals aren’t required at times but your philosophy is what makes it impossible for an insurance company to operate here in Lakewood.

    • people want to use CHOP because it is so close to lakewood! People in other areas would also want to use a world renowned hospital if it would be close to them.

  10. Additionally, Dr. Shanik is responsible and knows what the community needs. He would not have terminated with them should he not have been 100% confident that Amerigroup’s network of highly specialized hospitals across the state Including DuPont which is one of the highest ranking pediatric hospitals in the country is sufficient emergency care for his patience.

    • Right on the money. People are vastly unaware of what kind of Hospital Nemours Dupont is. Rated one of best 10 Children hospitals in the country for all illnesses.

  11. Amerigroup offers Dupont Hospital for Children and Columbia Presbyterian Children’s Hospital in the event a sick child requires special care. All PCPs and OB/GYNs in and around the Lakewood area now accept Amerigroup. Their Provider network has grown over past few months.

  12. Hi, Nate
DuPont is an excellent nationally renowned Children’s Hospital, however it is not ranked as one of the top 10 Children’s Hospitals.
    CHOP is #3

  13. Hi Jerry,
No one in NY, PA, DE will ever visit CHOP for any reason except for extreme circumstances. Why in the world you’d be advocating for an insurance company that offers #3 vs # whatever is beyond me when they have terminated with ChOP and again Re-engaged w them only to terminate again but only on certain criteria – I agree w above post, United is unstable and have abandoned Lakewood. I switched to Amerigroup based on my pediatrician’s recommendation and BH I’m happy. They are definitely more accessible than UHC and have access to all specialities one could ever need. (Irrespective of the fact the Chop is now in negotiations w Amerigroup)

  14. If a child requires speech therapy Aetna Community Plan is much easier to deal with. As far as Ameirgroup is concerned therapists have found they are inconstant with reimbursement and not reliable as of now.
