Man arrested for attempting to lure teen girl in Lakewood

A man was arrested and charged for an attempted luring of a teen Lakewood girl, police say.

On Tuesday, the Lakewood Police Department received a call for service in reference to a male in a blue pickup truck that attempted to lure a 15 year old female in the area of 6th Street at Madison Avenue.

Patrolman Justin Pederson located the victim, on 7th Street near Madison Avenue.

Patrolman Sherry Jones located the suspect vehicle on River Avenue, southbound, which she stopped in the CVS parking lot located at 596 River Avenue.

The driver was identified as 50 year old Ronald Jakubowski, of Toms River.

Further investigation by Detective Eric Cicerello revealed that while the 15 year girl was walking alone on 6th Street she was approached by a 2001 blue Ford pick up truck operated by Jakubowski. As he got closer, he intentionally made some harassing comments with the purpose to cause alarm and for self gratification. The frightened victim ran but Jakubowski continued to follow in his truck. He was later stopped by the police as he was attempting to leave the area.

As a result, Ronald Jakubowski was arrested and charged with a fourth degree Harassment violation. He was later released pending a future court date.

This is a repeat offender – crazy.

    google “ronald jakubowsky toms river”

  • Daddy says:

That is why we have to be very careful of our surroundings

  • rayray says:

So why do you let you kids walk around by themselves???? This guy is a registered sex offender. They are everywhere and girls nor boys can be considered safe when alone. Lakewood is not a bubble where nothing can happen. wake up parents. You are lucky this girl did not end up his next victim.

    • Anon says:

@rayray The story doesn’t say what time of day or night this occurred, but you think any parent who lets a 15-year-old girl walk outside by herself in the middle of the day in yeshiva area is negligent?!?!?!?!?!?!?!???

If the story reported that it occurred at 11 p.m it would be a different story

      • rayray says:

This occurred in the afternoon. My daughter was not allowed around the neighborhood by herself no matter what time of day unless she could say she could fend off someone her father’s size and build by herself. She is now 18 and admits she still might not be able to do that even with Krav Maga training. She always goes in groups. So yes parents need to wake up and realize that it can happen any time of day and that you are responsible for your children and their safety. That does not stop when they are teenagers. What you think criminals only act after 11 pm. Seriously? Maybe that is where the disconnect is. Parents don’t even understand the dangers so how can they guide their kids? And I never said the word neglect you did.

I guess you hail from Saudi Arabia or Gaza, where women arent allowed out by themselves to “protect” them from predators.

There is no reason why a HS girl cant walk in broad daylight in a populated area.

Do you think if she was 30 she’d be able to “fend off someone her father’s size”?

Our streets need to be safe for all and that’s done by taking all crime seriously. (& not allowing repeat offenders back out on the streets)

  • Donna Opperman says:

    why was he released?

    • Jimmy says:

What he did is considered a fourth degree offense, which is a slap on the wrist. He has done this before and no doubt this type of behavior is likely to escalate. It is absolutely maddening.

  • Rina says:

@Donna He was released because our system protects sex offenders. He didn’t touch her, he just talked to her.. By law, he didn’t break any “big” laws.. They can’t keep him in jail for talking to her. He stayed in his vehicle.

I wonder how long it will take for the APP to publish this story.
    …….oh I forgot, it’s not a Jew from Lakewood so they won’t!

  • Agreed says:

@Donna – ur 100% right. How do they release this repeat offender ? This guy is a menace, nuisance and a serious threat to the well being of the children in our towns !!
    Nuts !!!

  • Miss Informed says:

@ Moshe : APP had the story, before your smart post.
THIS is why we call on SHABBOS to report people filming children, following children. It is Sofek Pekuach Nefesh.Ask your Rav. The life you save, might be your own child’s….

  • Bubbie Zelda says:

completely agree with 1 and 4 [have the same question ]. On the other hand I do believe I have the answer to 4. This country has way too much freedom,

  • Moshe Tushfeld says:

    @miss informed:
