Verizon has finally begun upgrades to its towers in Lakewood – in response to numerous complaints from residents, and subsequent reports on TLS.
Most recently, Mayor Coles got involved and requested the company make necessary upgrades to accommodate its customers. The company then phoned the Mayor.
In 20018, a resident launched a petition, and Verizon responded to TLS about that.
As earlier reported, the company stated the main issue with the failing service in Lakewood is due to the tremendous concentration of old equipment in one particular area. The company says Lakewood has the highest concentration of 3G network users on their network, putting a drag on the system.
In addition to the upgrades today, the company is also planning to enhance their systems at their current towers on Ridge Avenue, and at their towers on River Avenue near Central Avenue.
In addition, the company intends to add enhancements in 2020 to the area of 1700 Madison Avenue.
AT&T service is also in need of significant improvement in the Lakewood area. Would be good if TLS would intervene there, as well.

People already know to only call on my landline, since my cell service with AT&T is terrible in lakewood.
This is great news, now everyone will have to upgrade their phones or they won’t work.
Additional tower needed in downtown/BMG area data is unusable. Calls also get dropped.
