Seniors across the county are invited to the Ocean County Health Department (OCHD) on August 16, 2019 for the Older Adults Health Fair. This special health fair will run from 9am to noon at the OCHD location, 175 Sunset Avenue, Toms River, NJ.
“Save the date! This is the first year the Ocean County Health Department is hosting this special event. We would like to encourage all our seniors to bring their friends and take part in the health services, screenings and educational information we’ll be providing free of charge,” says Ocean County Freeholder Gerry P. Little, liaison to the Ocean County Board of Health.
The following is a list of the free services being offered by the Ocean County Health Department:
- BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING
- GLUCOSE SCREENING
- CHOLESTEROL SCREENING
- HEARING TESTS
Along with the free services, the Ocean County Health Department will also provide information regarding a variety of health education topics including diabetes, substance abuse, medication safety and so much more.
“We thought that by holding the event outdoors, our seniors would enjoy spending a beautiful summer morning with us for some free breakfast and a variety of health services our older adults would have an interest in,” explains Daniel E. Regenye, OCHD Public Health Coordinator. “And if that’s not enough, we will even have on hand a farmers market with fresh, local grown fruits and vegetables.”
The Ocean County Animal Facilities is participating in the event and will showcase a few adoptable cats and dogs for the animal lovers looking for a companion pet.
“The health fairs the Ocean County Health Department hosts are just a great one-stop opportunity for our residents to come out and get a smart health check and to learn more about healthy living and all the many other valuable services and programs we offer the community,” Little added.
