Nearly 1,000 Lakewood residents are without power this afternoon, on this first day of the heatwave.
The outages are being reported in the downtown area, as well as in the Oak Street and Spruce Street areas.
Traffic lights are out as well.
We are also receiving reports of two utility poles on fire – one in the area of Spruce Street and one in the area of Park Avenue.
The power company did not list a cause, but says power is expected to be restored by 8:30 PM.

A heatwave is a common occurrence. They happen every summer. There is no excuse for JCPL, or ConEdision not being prepared for it.
