OCPO investigating shots fired in South Toms River

Authorities are investigating shots fired in South Toms River, the Ocean County Prosecutor announced today.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on Wednesday, July 10, at approximately 7:00 p.m., South Toms River Police were summoned to a residence on Charles Drive in South Toms River for a report of shots fired.

South Toms River Police, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene. “Thankfully, no one was hurt even though this gunfire occurred in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Detectives have been working through the night to determine who is responsible.” Prosecutor Billhimer stated. “Several bullets and shell casings were recovered from the scene” Prosecutor Billhimer added.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, South Toms River Police Department and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit are currently investigating this incident. Anyone with information on this investigation is urged to contact the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-929-2027 or Detective Timothy Meier of the South Toms River Police Department at 732-349-0313 ext. 112.

The South Toms River Police Department will have extra patrols in the area.
