Opinion: Hypocrisy From The Left l Shlomo Rudman

The political world is in turmoil over a series of tweets sent by President Trump clearly addressing the four leaders of the progressive movement in the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives. In a series of tweets, Trump wrote “So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswoman, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly… and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government should be run. Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how… it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!”

Democrats across the country immediately pounced on the President’s tweets, saying they are the very definition of racism. The Congresswomen who Trump was targeting, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib held a press conference on Monday in which they called the president a racist and called for his impeachment.

The truth is that the tweets were racist. Telling legal immigrants to “go back where you came from” is pretty much textbook racism. I’ve been told many times to “go back to Israel” or “go back to Auschwitz”. Nobody would argue that such statements aren’t racist, and the same goes for Trump’s tweets.

But I would argue that as much of a mistake it was to send those tweets, President Trump had no racist intent – I think he just worded his message badly. I believe President Trump was trying to make a simple argument – if you think the United States is so bad as these politicians keep saying it is, then they should go elsewhere to live. Don’t live in the United States and do nothing but disparage its citizens.

But it goes further. While Trump’s tweets deserve an apology, the Democrats also go way out of line with their outrage in general and it’s hard to take them seriously. These are the same people that called President Reagan a racist for wanting to do welfare reform, President George W. Bush a racist for how he responded to Hurricane Katrina and John McCain, who Democrats now revere, was compared to openly racist presidential candidate George Wallace. Mitt Romney was also called a racist for saying that if you want free things you should vote for Obama.

And this Democratic party that is wringing their hands over Trump’s tweets is the same one that has a serving member of Congress that said support for Israel is “all about the Benjamins”, they couldn’t even get enough members to pass a resolution condemning anti-Semitism. But in under 72 hours, they passed a resolution calling President Trump a racist.

When Obama supported building a border fence, it was a matter of national security. When Trump wants to do it, it’s white nationalism. The hypocrisy is unreal.

So yes, Trump should not have sent those tweets. But the politicians he was targeting are also political bullies. They say they don’t want anything to be about race, but the moment you disagree with them they call you a racist.

Americans are tired of the games. Politicians should act in accordance with what is truly best for the country. The president should not make racist comments, and members of Congress should stop playing the race card at every opportunity.

  1. Stop it the tweets aren’t racist as he says come back after you fix up Somalia.
Of the 4 the only one who may not be anti Israel is anyway a racist as she said any POC who doesn’t support her ideas has no right to say anything, where is the condemnation?
The other 3 are anti Israel and at least 2 are rabid Jew haters.
Just because someone is a women and/or a POC doesn’t give them immunity from criticism over their radical ideas and agenda especially when they spew hatred for America.

  2. It was not racist !!
    You’re making a big mistake.
When someone tells you, go back to Auschwitz, that’s racist. He told them, in effect, I’d you’re so good at problem solving, go back to your countries, fix them up, and when they’re fixed, come back. No one ever told you, go back to Israel, and then- Come back !!
But you are right about the dems being hypocritical.
    I’ll give you that.

  3. Shlomo,

It was clear from his rally when there were chants of “send her back” (full stop) that his supporters understood exactly what he was saying.

Do not blame it on a poorly worded tweet. You think that makes his victims feel better?
If he was really misunderstood, let him call his victims and try to do teshuva for a poorly worded tweet that caused them so much tzaar and agmas nefesh.

Telling female , first generation immigrants who are elected member of congress and are 100% US Citizens to go back to their countries is 100% racist.

Is it OK to tell Melania and her parents to go back to their country and fix it and then come back?

    • Melania is not complaining about the United States or the US Government. Trump is telling anyone who is complaining about the way things are here, the best country on the face of the earth, they can go leave.
