A power outage yesterday left nearly 1,000 without power, and nearly 600 are still without power as of this morning.
A power surge in the area of East 7th Street and the East End Avenue area yesterday afternoon was reportedly the cause of the outage, as well as the cause of a brush fire.

With temperatures near 100 yesterday, some residents moved out and moved in with family for the night.
According to the electric company, power is expected to be restored by 11:00 AM today.
UPDATE 10:50 AM: The power company now put the restoration time at 4 PM.
Why is it not back on sometimes throughout the night? The problem happened yesterday pretty early and then the storm was over by 11-12. Even if it rained a little bit during the night they should have been working on this throughout the night.
There is a crew by the food-x area on Park and 4th but they are so rude they don’t even try to help you and answer you when they expect something
Why in 2019 are we still having such issues. Between the heat & rain there’s still no solution for such electricity problems. If it’s in Lakewood or New York we still suffer from blackouts if there’s just a little than more heat or rain. I mean… C’mon! It’s about time someone invests in some other kind of electricity option.
Hashem runs the world even in 2019 with all your technology etc thats why
Still no power on E7th Street
Also a few houses in westgate on maplewood. The primtive situation of dealing 2019 with blackouts is quite amazing. And the electric repairman are very rude. The same few houses had an outage last friday night. And it seems the same problem persists for years but when the repairman are asked any question they act very obnoxious.
