BREAKING UPDATE: Chief Meyer: Lakewood tire slashings being investigated as Bias Crimes (VIDEO & PHOTOS)

Lakewood Police Chief Greg Meyer tells TLS the tire slashing incidents that occurred over Shabbos in Lakewood are being investigated as Bias Crimes.

“We are investigating these acts as a Bias Crime and reviewing all video footage,” Chief Meyer said. “We are asking everyone to cooperate, even if they think their video is similar, we need to make a pattern as to when and where, in an attempt to locate the individuals,” the Chief said.

As reported last night, over 100 tires belonging to Jewish residents were slashed.

  1. I live in this neighborhood and had the tires of both of my cars destroyed. The cost of replacing all of these tires for those affected will be well north of $15,000 besides for the massive disruption in work which is going on today while many are still immobilized waiting for their tires to be repaired. As a neighborhood, we are certainly very grateful to the Lakewood Police Department and to the mayor for the countless hours they have spent with the neighborhood over the weekend. They are certainly not taking this incident lightly and we are hopeful that the suspect(s) will be apprehended soon.
