Flip And Flop – President Trump applauded a decision by the Israeli government to bar Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar from visiting the country. Tlaib and Omar are two of the most anti-Israel members of Congress, and are vocal supporters of the Boycott, Divest, Sanction (BDS) movement, widely considered to be anti-Semitic at its core. After negotiations between Israel and Tlaib’s team, an agreement was reached whereby Tlaib could enter Israel to visit her grandmother in the West Bank, provided that she doesn’t promote anti-Israel agendas while in the country. On Friday morning, Tlaib tweeted that she would not be going because she won’t be allowed to protest the Israeli government. So much for just wanting to see her grandma…

Epstein Found Dead – Serial abuser and trafficker Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his cell at a Manhattan jail. Immediately after his death the internet blew up with conspiracy theories, many of them alleging that former president Bill Clinton had a hitman take out Epstein so he can’t reveal Clinton’s secrets. President Trump seemed to endorse this theory after retweeting an account making that assumption. Autopsy results showed that Epstein’s hyoid bone was broken, which could happen from a hanging suicide, but is more common in strangulations. The mystery continues.

Bond Yield Curve Inverts – Investors were on edge this week as the bond yields for 10-year and 2-year Treasury notes inverted, a warning sign that has preceded nearly every recession. Spooked market-makers sold off many stocks, wishing to cash in their gains before a major crash occurs. Analysts say that the trade war with China exacerbates already bad headwinds faced by the economy, and that a recession could be expected within a year or two at most.

Gunman Injures Six Cops – A gunman in Philadelphia injured six police officers during an 8-hour long standoff. Cops from the narcotics unit entered the home during a drug bust when the suspect began firing. Two officers became trapped on the second floor of the home but were safely escorted out by a SWAT team. The suspect eventually surrendered himself to police after hours of negotiation and several rounds of tear gas having been fired into the house.

Hickenlooper Drops Out – Former Colorado Governor Jim Hickenlooper dropped out of the race for president. Hickenlooper trailed badly in the polls and had very little chance of making the stage for the third and fourth presidential debates. He is expected to run for US Senate in Colorado, where he was a popular, common-sense governor.

Trump Wants To Buy Greenland – The Wall Street Journal reported that President Trump has asked his aides multiple times whether the United States could buy Greenland, which is an autonomous Danish territory. It is unclear why Trump has an interest in purchasing Greenland, but the area is rich in natural resources and also has a large American military base on it. Either way, Greenland officials responded to the report saying that it was not for sale. So that ends that.
