The Fairways, one of Lakewood’s largest 55+ communities, has installed armed security at its pool in response to multiple incidents.
TLS has learned that an orthodox resident at the Fairways pool was allegedly verbally assaulted.
Eyewitnesses shared with TLS that racial and antisemitic slurs were shouted at the Orthodox resident. An argument ensued and got heated.
Information we received from residents shows that similar incidents seem to have occurred more than a dozen times and were possibly committed by the same perpetrators.
The Fairways Homeowners Association’s Board hired an armed security guard to patrol the pool area in response to these incidents.
UPDATE: The security company hired tells TLS that “the security at the pool in Fairways started off as armed but shortly thereafter, the request was made to have the guards be unarmed.”
I guess they’ll see that no problems are happening & then after about 9-10 months the summer starts and they wont have security anymore
As a Fairways resident I believe this is overkill. They should just take action and reprimand or penalize the perpetrator. In my opinion hiring a security guard only reinforces the image that frum Jews are a problem wherever they go.
Why don’t they get reported and why aren’t charges being pressed?
What about installing serious security cameras also? Do they already have? It they do why don’t they investigate and see who the man assaulting everyone is and arrest him?
Was a resident in late 90’s. U could see trouble brewing back then, thats why we moved, no need 4 guards , just report- arrest all involved. We all want harmony. Too many people think that they r better then the rest of us.
