The LSTA intends to stop busing transportation for children tomorrow, TLS has learned.
The LSTA notified the State Monitor about this development in an email.
According to sources, it appears the LSTA State Legislation was not renewed, and there may not be sufficient funds to provide transportation. This will affect both public and nonpublic children.
The Township conditioned the provision of moneys to the District for public children with the understanding there would be similar busing for nonpublic students.
The LSTA wrote the following to State Monitor:
“The LSTA in good faith started busing on Sept 2, 2019 for the 19/20 school year. The LSTA has submitted our contract that was sent to us this afternoon 9/18/19’. Despite numerous requests for the status of start up monies that the state monitor has previously approved to be given to our entity previously, we have received no response.
At this point, the LSTA board and counsel feel its fiscally irresponsible to continue operations without these monies.
Therefore, we will be ceasing busing as of Friday, Sept 20th, 2019 indefinitely until we can resolve the matter.
We’re hopeful that we can resolve this matter shortly and return to regular day to day operations.”
Board of Education Attorney Michael Inzelbuch did not respond to request for comment.
This is a developing story. TLS will continue to monitor this story.
Holy Moly!
Pass the popcorn please…
Maybe….
If we ignore the Plight… of the A.T. students..
Maybe…
Hash-em is not so happy with us
Maybe….
Is there bussing tommorow Friday? Stopping before or after school Friday? Is this headache for Friday or Monday?
Does this mean there is no busing tomorrow or just that LSTA is not operating?
State law prevents payment for services prior to delivery of the services. The only exception is expressly contained in law for private schools for students with disabilities. This common knowledge to vendors who service public schools.
There should be no school tomorrow. By the time you drop the children off at school and navigate through traffic you have to turn right back to get them!!!
Agreed!
Not a secret that we are all slaves to this bus system or the lack thereof. I know none of us want to foot the bill but enough is enough. Let all schools get their own buses and drivers and call it a day. We will make sure they actually show up have GPS systems come out even when there is a few snowflakes etc.
boorich hashem our chasidisha moisdos all have our own busses, so we will keep rolling and rolling!
At least we’ll have busing tomorrow 😉
LOL Monroe yid who do you think pays for your bussing???
You got that right cuzisedso. And that is the reason all the LBOE drivers & aides lost our jobs, coz ‘they’ took over……..
The Chassidic schools include busing in their tuition. They have school owned buses with their own drivers. Nothing to do with LSTA or BOE.
I guess only busses from Toms River and Jackson will deliver the kids.
Are they going to reimburse all the people who paid for the year then??
Can TLS kindly publish a list of phone numbers for parents to call in Trenton?
Can all schools send home letters with their students with phone numbers to call in Trenton, to try to get this resolved?
Blah. Blah. Blah. There will be busses. And in other news….
What happened to the money I shelled out to the LSTA for each of my kids?
Jackson service is terrible Jays is the standard of busing !
Any update? I didn’t reven be any notes from any of my 3 schools….
Still no update or news to parents and schools.
Someone is playing a game with transportation.
How can a town not run buses efficiently? This is every year…maybe drop the buses and have the parents car pool. I’ll pray for all kids involved that they can still get to school.
maybe one day you guys will learn from us chasidiha moisdos how to get your own busses, so you can keep rolling without all this narishkeitin! what would you do with out us?? we need to teach you about buying your own busses?
Lakewood people are slaves to this ridiculous bus service. Every year it’s a problem.
If there truly is no bus service tomorrow I certainly hope each and every parent keeps their kid home!
Is there going to be school tomorrow?
It is almost impossible that there is no money for bussing unless someone is making off with all of our taxes………
I guess only us chasidim will have yeshiva tomorrow, we just keep rolling OUR OWN busses, nothing can stop our busses!
Monroe yid- get a life, we heard you the 1st 3 times. Maybe the non chasidishe mosdos would rather charge the parents less tuition and use the public bussing option, even if once a year we need to deal with this cancellation circus. I know I prefer that to paying more…
Monroe ur referring to non chasidim in a degrading way that is not appropriate and comes across as racist.
