FIRST REPORT: New School opens in Lakewood in light of Ateres Tzipora closure

In light of the closure of Ateres Tzipora school, and due to the tremendous growth in Lakewood and surrounding neighborhoods, a new school has opened in Lakewood.

The new school is being called Bais Yaakov of Ocean County.

“Due to the amazing growth which we are privileged to witness in Lakewood and the surrounding area,  there is a strong need for additional schools to service the community,” the new management told TLS.

Baalei Batim who have worked around the clock to bring the plan to fruition have invited Rabbi Hershy Rosenbaum, formerly of Yehsivas chasan Sofer in Boro Park, to serve as the school’s director.

“Rabbi Hershy Rosenbaum of New York has graciously agreed to accept a role of leadership and is well positioned to lead Bais Yaakov of Ocean County to success, the school said. “Rabbi Rosenbaum is the former executive director of Yeshivas Chasan Sofer of Boro Park and comes with many years of experience in the field of Chinuch. In addition, he has given several mosdos invaluable direction and assistance in times of need, helping to turn them into successful institutions.”

The new school, to be housed in a building on Prospect Street, will serve primary-8th grade children, aiming to provide first-class Chinuch for their talmidos.

Mrs. Walter, the assistant principal of Ateres Tzipora, will serve as Bais Yaakov of Ocean County’s assistant principal, and will be setting up appointments with parents to meet the leadership.

  1. Waiting to hear good news … Behatzhlacha n I hope that every1 needing a school cam get in!!! Now onto the many high school girls needing a school…

  2. Will be setting up appointments? Parents have to go through another vetting process? Isn’t that wonderful…

On the flip side thanks for stepping up to the plate – I will also be interviewing the hanhala to make sure they are on par with my “high ideals” of teaching girls how to be a mentch to each other and include each other in their “very cool clicks” and how to respect their parents and help out in the home.

    • You’re trying to get in to their institution and not vice versa.

You’re attitude is unfortunately why some of these wonderful girls have trouble getting in to school.

        • Gotta say, you have an interesting attitude. Don’t blame you, you have probably been through a lot of stress in the past few months. However, if my child was attending a new school, I would want to speak to the administration, and would be upset if they did not give me an opportunity to do so.

Would you invest money in something without knowing anything about.Children are our greatest responsibility. Before I would trust someone with my children care, I would like to know who they are.

Aside for that, it was known that Harav Shloo Zalman Aurbauch ZT”L use to sit in the front seat when he took a taxi. someone asked him why, and he responded, just because you pay the taxi driver, does not mean there is no longer an obligation of Hakaras Hatov

In the same vain, even if one pays full tuition, they still owe a debt of gratitude to the teachers and administration of their children’s school.

          • And just because the school provides an education, doesn’t mean they don’t owe hakoras hatov to those who pay their salaries, and provide the children whom they can use to apply for government grants.

            It goes both ways

  3. Everyone must live within walking distance to a shul that will accept the family and the family accepts the shul. Attach a school on each shul. You have families and schools choosing one another then. Make them larger. What is with the elitism and interviews? Kids have to audition to learn math and have their parents get the privilege to pay several thousand dollars at year? There already doesn’t seem to be much parental choice. Then the schools insist on rules as if the parents really had a choice about attending the school in the first place. This situation is sure to make people have fewer kids and that is not a good thing.

    • Hey Kris, not sure that the purpose of the meeting is to “set rules”, but even if that is the case, every school has rules (including public schools for that matter). Parents make a lot of sacrifices for their children, they are lucky if adhering to the rules of their children’s school is the biggest sacrifice they have to make.

  4. Ummm…. explain please?
I dunno if that poster was serious or not but that additude of “I’ll interview the hanhala” after they so graciously just stepped up to the plate for you is ridiculous and unfortunately not uncommon. Speak to people who run schools, there are parents who make menhalim miserable and then expect them to bend over backwards for them. People like this should stop thinking the world revolves around them and then will be better off.

  5. Hashem runs the world and Lakewood too. There must be a good reason why Hashem mads it that lakewood is so hard to get your child accepted into a school. we All Know That Everything Hashem Does is for The good.

Keep your faith and trust in Hashem and turn directly to Hashem from your heart whenever your in need of help. Hashem listens to tefillos 24-7 and even more at night

    • Wrong! and kefira, we have free will it absolutely does not mean hashem wants a situation like the way it is free will means he lets us create our own situations and does not stand in the way

  6. Nobody has returned a single email from that school. Everyone who contacted this allegedly new school has gotten ZERO response so far. School has already started, and 100+ girls are STILL without schools. Doesn’t reflect well on the community to leave so many girls out in the cold and string them along like this.
