Police Chief Greg Meyer today paid a visit to Mr. Itche Meir Greenwald, the proprietor of Greenwald Caterers, whose facility burned down in a massive blaze.
“Being a longtime business-owner in Lakewood, I felt it was the right thing to do to pay him a visit,” said Chief Meyer.
The Chief noted that Mr. Greenwald had also visited him, as a Lieutenant, when he was hospitalized with a gunshot wound during the infamous police-involved shooting 10 years ago.
Investigators were still on scene this afternoon trying to determine the cause of the fire, which took hours to bring under control.
“I’m sure you’ll rebuild bigger and better than ever,” the Chief told Mr. Greenwald while looking at the charred facilities.
The catering operations are continuing at another temporary location.
Mr. Greenwald is a true pillar of our community, going out of his way to help Almones and Yesomim, catering their simches for free.
We all wish him that he should be able to rebuild his business bigger and better!
Itcha is a tzadik.
Rabbi Greenwalkd is a tzaddik and the Chesed he does is quietly done and done is such a special way. He sent us food for shabbos for a full year for free when my father wasn’t well and then of course offered to continue when my father was niftar. It was such a huge help knowing that shabbos food was taken care of, sent with such rachvus and packaged so respectfully. Hashem will surely repay him and everyone should use him because he’s incredible.
Definitely newsworthy.
Thank you TLS!
I don’t live in Lakewood but when I was in Lakewood helping a relative that was in a tzara, not only did he send those full shabbos packages, I recall erev yom Kippur the insane amount of nosh he sent in a huge box for the kids! That’s not catered food made by a worker, that’s heart and soul in a box hand delivered!
Itche Meir,
You always have the right story and chizuk words of wisdom. You need someone like you to be mechazek the situation here!
I hope that you rebuild to bigger and better (if it`s possible) very soon!!
