‘Urgent’ Whistleblower Complaint Blocked – The Trump administration has a blocked a report from Congress that was deemed ‘urgent’ by intelligence officials. The complaint, filed by someone in the intelligence world, is reportedly regarding multiple instances in which President Trump may have imperiled US national security. Rep. Adam Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee has been going public about the blocking of the report from his committee, which he says is unprecedented and may be a coverup. President Trump denies having done anything improper.
Trump Names New NSA – Robert O’Brien, the chief hostage negotiator for the government and a widely respected Republican, was named by President Trump as his new National Security Advisor, following the firing of John Bolton last week. O’Brien is in many similar to Bolton, with both being seen as national security and foreign policy hawks. The new NSA will now have to deal with multiple major issues around the world, including Iran and North Korea. But getting along with Trump may end up being his greatest challenge.
New Iran Sanctions – The Trump administration slapped new sanctions on Iran’s national bank Friday morning, in an effort to escalate pressure on the regime following recent attacks on Saudi Arabian oil infrastructure which sent the price of oil soaring globally. “They’re practically broke. They are broke,” Trump told reporters when speaking of the new Iranian sanctions. The sanctions are reportedly being put into place instead of other retaliatory options that were considered, including a military strike or cyber attack on critical Iranian systems.
More Vapers Sick – The number of people becoming ill from vaping-related illnesses has topped 500, with an eighth death being reported by health officials. Several states have taken steps to reduce the rising numbers, with New York completely banning the sale of all vaping products. The FDA is reportedly following leads on what may be causing the illnesses, with evidence pointing to illegal vaping products containing harmful substances.
Trump Bars California From Setting Emission Standards – President Trump announced this week that he will be revoking California’s ability to set auto carbon emission standards for vehicles in the state. Instead, California must abide by national emission standards which will be set by the EPA, which is under the Trump administration’s umbrella. Trump said that the move would allow automobile manufacturers to make safer and cheaper cars.
BDB Drops Out – New York City mayor Bill de Blasio announced Friday morning that he was dropping out of the presidential race. NYC residents are reportedly very upset that he will likely now return to the city.
