Where Are The Freeholders? l G. Sonnenfeld

The allegations made against multiple Jackson officials in the massive injunction filed in court by Agudath Israel bring into question whether a conspiracy exists within the Jackson government to make it impossible for Orthodox Jews to live in the township with their religious freedoms unaffected.

One particular charge made against mayor Mike Reina has many wondering how he has gone so long without making a single public statement about it, or even saying whether he confirms or denies the allegation. His silence says volumes, but there are a group of people whose silence many find to be even more deafening – the Ocean County Freeholders.

The Freeholders, all Republicans, represent Ocean County, which is run almost entirely by Republicans. The smoothness of operations around the county often come down to their involvement, and they have been doing a very solid job. But why have they remained silent on this issue, especially regarding Reina?

Mike Reina is an employee of the county. He holds the title of Supervisor of Ocean County Bridges and is paid nearly $100,000 for his services. With Reina being an employee of the county, it seems that it would only make sense for those leading the county to comment on the recent revelations about him. It is quite ironic that the man charged with supervising Ocean County’s bridges is credibly accused of not building bridges, but rather tearing them down. Comment from the Freeholders on the unfolding situation should be expected. But so far we have nothing but radio silence.

  1. As a frum Jackson voter I dont care about the Vaad and will no longer vote Republican for Freeholder …how can they continue to employee the biggest bigot in ocean county…reinas election was bigoted with its mailers and now all this…stand up freeholders and fire Reina or expect the average Joe on this street to ignore the vaad and vote Democrats

  2. Freeholders..why dont you see the obvious ..Mike Reina as Mayor of the most bigoted town being employed bu US ALL is a wink and a nod to RUOC..fire him and show that your resolution wasnt meaningless…fyi we all know that he doesnt do anything anyways

  3. Wondering why there isn’t a single individual from Lakewood representing the community as a freeholder ? Doesn’t that strike anyone as strange ?

  4. According to google, the Mayor is elected directly by the voters, so the freeholders cannot “fire” him from that position. The only way to get him out of office is if he resigns the position, or the voters vote him out.

As for his county, job, well, that is a different issue that they can take action on.

  5. Why the whining? If you don’t like the person, or you don’t like the vaad endorsements, set up a valid alternative. With responsible people and a solid thought out platform.

All those who started up with the vaad failed because the only thing they had to sell was anti-vaad sentiment. If someone has something to sell that the public wants and he presents it well, the public will start voting their own interests instead of other people’s
