With 9000 Calls Each Year, Will Hatzolah Be Able To Answer the Call?

Chest pains forced him to sit down and take a break. While drinking his glass of water, suddenly the pain started rushing up his arm. In his cold sweat, he recognized the symptoms – he was having a heart attack. He grabbed his phone and dialed 7 – 3 – 2 – 3 – 7 – 0 – 3 – 6 – 0 – 0. Ring. Ring. Ring. No response. Was Hatzolah closed? He thought for a second as he blacked out.

A mother was in the kitchen preparing dinner for her family, when suddenly she realized it was too quiet. She ran into the family room, Yitzy wasn’t there. Bedroom, no luck. She didn’t want to allow her mind to go there, but with trembling hands, she opened the sliding door to the backyard. In the middle of her serene manicured oasis, she saw something dark at the bottom of her pool. Luckily, Hatzolah’s number was on her cell phone’s favorites list. It started ringing, but there was no answer.

I’m sure you realize that these stories are not true. Well, the first halves are unfortunately too true, they happen 25 times a day, over 9000 times a year. But, the endings are not true. Hatzolah answers and responds 24/7, 365 days a year. But, do you know why the ending is not true?

Yes, Hatzolah member’s care deeply about everyone in our community and they value life above all else. But, that’s not why. The reason why Hatzolah is always there is because people like you,  are there for Hatzolah. Because you care and value life and support Hatzolah’s day to day life saving mission.

Under the direction of the Rosh HaYeshiva Rav Shneur Zt”l and the Mashgiach Rav Nosson Zt”l, the Tomeich Hatzolah drive every Elul,  was instituted to ensure that Hatzolah can meet their day to day operating expenses. What better way is there to get ready for the Yom HaDin, the time when the books of life and death are open before Hashem,  than to show that we choose life. We value life and will do what it takes to save a life.

Please, this is your personal Hatzolah call. Will you answer? Will you respond as fast as a Hatzolah member? I know you will become a Tomeich Hatzoalh now because you understand that when there is a Hatzolah call there must always be someone to answer.
