An off-duty police officer from Ocean County has died after being hospitalized from a construction site in Lakewood this afternoon, authorities confirmed to TLS.
Shortly after 1 PM, emergency personnel were called to a construction site in Lakewood for the reports of someone in cardiac arrest.
Upon arrival, they found CPR being performed on a man on a backhoe, police say.
The man, later identified as an active Barnegat police officer, was transported to Ocean Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the man owned a construction company, and it appears the cardiac arrest was caused by a medical episode. He was approximately 40 years old.
The incident is under investigation.
(The family has been notified as of this post.)
Terrible, may the family be comforted
This is absolutely tragic & shocking news. To have a cardiac arrest at 40 yrs is almost unheard of.
May the family have the strength to survive.
We are devastated. He was a good man, a family man. I will always feel his ‘bear’ hug. He will be missed ????
No one knows Gods plan…
