Kiddush Levana Update | Rabbi Moshe Flohr

The following is for Lakewood, Jackson, Toms River, Brooklyn, Monsey and Fallsburg (upstate):

Thursday evening, most likely cloudy. There is a “slight possibility” that there will be some breaks in the clouds between 8 pm and 1 am.

Motzoei Shabbos, there will be a Levana clearly visible right after Shabbos is over until approximately 8 pm. Then it will be cloudy until about 9 pm. Between 9 pm and 11 pm there will be breaks in the clouds and you should be able to say Kiddush Levana. (In some places, until 12 am.)

Sunday, first night of Sukkos, if you did not or were unable to say it beforehand you can still say it with a Bracha. It will be visible in the beginning of the night and for most of the night. However, you must finish saying Kiddush Levana by 11:30 pm the latest.

  1. I made kidush levana with a beautiful levanah while accuweather was trying to convince me that it is showering in Lakewood . They are real nevie sheker

  2. Thx, TLS for continuing to post these updates and thx to R’ Moshe for supplying the information. I went to the BMG Shuk around 11:00 & there was a gorgeous levanah then and I said it right there. I then caught the 12:15 maariv in Kol Shimshon (R’ Flohr was actually in that minyan, as well) and my son said it after maariv, although by then it was a little spotty.
May HKBH see how much effort we put in to all of these mitzvos, and may this give Him joy and Nachas, and may He Bentch us all with a Gezunten, Hatzlochadikeh Yuhr With Kol Tuv.
