Teenager Struck, Killed By Hit and Run Driver In Lakewood

Lakewood Police and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating after a hit-and-run on Friday night left a 15-year-old male dead and his father injured.

Police say that the father, Jesus Lopez-Ramirez, 37, of Lakewood, was walking with his teenage son on Oak Street shortly after 9 PM when a dark-color, newer-model Jeep Cherokee struck them. The father suffered a light elbow injury, but his son, whose name has not been released, was severely injured and sadly passed away at the scene.

Investigators say the offending vehicle fled the scene, and was last spotted driving south on Albert Ave. Police request anyone with information regarding the incident to contact them at 732-363-0200.

  1. Ouch. That’s a horrible story. I would think, as there are so many schools on Oak St., someone’s cameras picked up something and they’ll catch these perps.

  2. Since the light has been installed many speed-up on Oak st to make the light. A four way stop were everyone has to stop would be much safer in this residential neighborhood.

  3. This is so very sad. My heart goes out to the family of this boy. May G-D bring comfort to the father and family for this terrible loss.

  4. I am so sad to read this about this horrible tragedy. For a father to witness this.. praying for the family to have strength..

  5. I can not even begin to understand how a human being can possibly leave the scene of an accident.
Only a true monster can do this.
May the Almighty bring comfort to this family.

  6. How do you manage to run someone over on Shabbat night? The roads are empty, you could drive on the opposite side of the road and not encounter anyone. I hope whoever did it gets a harsh sentence because there’s no excuse for this.
