FRIGHTENING DASHCAM VIDEO: Child coming off school bus in Toms River nearly run over

This video is from a school bus dashcam.

The bus driver managed to get the suspect vehicle’s license plate, but says police told him an arrest is difficult since the video did not catch the plate.

  1. This driver is 100000000000000000000000 percent wrong, but I am wondering if there should also be more of an education to look both ways even when coming on an off of a bus.

Defensive driving is defined by wikipedia as “the aim is to reduce the risk of collision by anticipating dangerous situations, despite adverse conditions or the mistakes of others.”

We should all learn defensive pedestrian walking as well. Always assume that there will be a crazy driver coming

  2. Murderer.

    Deserves to go to jail.

How much time did he save????

@LakewoodScoop please post license plate details so atleast the drivers neighbors can know who to shame into acting like a human.

  3. Thankfully the child was not hurt. And as crazy as that driver was, I believe the bus companies should shoulder some of the responsibility of these incidents. When my children were young they were not allowed to cross a road with a double line. The bus had to let the child off on the appropriate side of the road. Has it changed or are companies just ignoring the rule at the expense of our children??

    • Against the law. When the bus gets hit head on because he’s across the yellow line(s), you’ll probably be the first to complain that the bus driver was at fault for crossing the yellow line and causing an accident.

  4. I’ve seen many times in New York school busses crossing over the line in middle of the street blocking both directions from any car from passing, doing this will help avoid many tragedies

  5. “arrest is difficult, since video did not catch the plate”??????. There is an eyewitness, the driver of the bus!! There is no rule that says that video is better than an eyewitness, or that if video did not catch the license plate,, the eyewitness information is invalid!

  6. Not saying the driver was right because he crossed over a double line and the bus driver slowed down so that should of been a signal to stop or slow down glad the kid didn’t get hurt but kids need to be taught don’t dart out in the road like that use the corners and crosswalks at the lights PARENTS need to teach their kids about the dangers of not crossing a road properly and not just run out into the road SAFETY FIRST SHOULD BE TAUGHT IN EVERY HOME

  7. In addition to educating children to use caution when exiting the bus and crossing the street, the bus companies must make sure children are dropped off at and cross at a corner. They should not be jaywalking on multi-lane roads.
