Verizon completes activation of new cell site in Lakewood

Verizon told TLS it has completed the activation of a new cell site in Lakewood.

“This planned network enhancement will improve 4G LTE coverage and capacity locally for residents and first responders,” Public Relations Manager David Weissmann told TLS.

Weissmann added, “We expect the greatest improvements will be seen in downtown Lakewood north of the Metedeconk Recreation Area.”

The issues and upgrade plans were discussed during a recent meeting held between the Township and Verizon representatives – exclusively reported by TLS.

One of the main drags on the network, Verizon said, was the large concentration of 3G device users within the Lakewood area.

“As we continue to enhance our network, please note, the best experience for users will be on 4G LTE devices,” Weissman said.

  1. 1) How in the world can anyone on 3g be convinced to switch over to 4g if the 3g system currently works significantly better then 4g (yes, even for data when 4g becomes unbearable I force my phone into CDMA).

    2) The reasons as to why 4g service is suffering isn’t really relevant to me, I just need a timeframe as to when I can expect service to reliable or else I will just switch service providers. This afternoon I was still having issues even with the new cell tower. (BMG area)

  2. I was just released from my cell a few weeks ago, and I thought I was finally free after years of no communication with the outside world. But now I found out they’ve built a new cell site right next to me, and I might get locked up again.
I thought Verizon was all about enhancing our ability to communicate freely with the outside world, but alas I discover they are working in cahoots with law enforcement to create cells all across the country to excommunicate me – and others like me – from society.
And when I read about the various 3G and 4G networks, I know it is code lingo for G men: government law enforcement agents. 3G and 4G networks, no doubt, refers to the number of agents assigned to a specific law enforcement network – some networks have 3 agents, some have 4.
The irony is that cell phones were supposedly created with the goal of enabling prisoners to communicate from within their cells to the outside world; hence the name cell phone, but, of course, that was just a guise. For indeed, I never once saw a cell phone while I was locked up.
Truth be told, we don’t need more cell networks, we need prison reform. But, of course, no one will listen to my voice, no matter how clear the reception is.

  3. @harryb, if and when the issue will be tackled I will be happy to thank everyone, but it was NOT tackled!!!
Please let me be clear, it is not an issue with the Township, it is a problem with Verizon, and as long that we stay on with their services, they will not invest and install upgrades to Lakewood customers, we all believe that it will be getting better, so we continue to pay for lousy service, no one to blame just ourselves!
So far the service is getting worse and worse
