  1. @justsaying. Your comment isn’t appropriate in this case. The driver is 100% responsible for his or her actions. not the planning board not BMG not the builders not the Jews or Italians blacks or whites.

    • RT9 used to be 2 lanes. In order to apply a band aid to the traffic problem 2 lanes were made with a turning lane. The driver my be at fault, but he had no room to turn.

  2. Just realize that most of these 18 wheeler operators do not live in Lakewood NJ! Nor anywhere near here probably. They can be from Texas too. And they just go wherever the GPS takes them. I see it all the time. Every truck makes a left turn off of Route 9 to go down Hurley to Cedarbridge. It’s a nightmare and a disaster. They all get stuck, cause cars to have to back up and get out of harms way etc. Most of the time the drivers have NO idea that this town was built and continues to be built for Horse and Buggies until it is too late. Until they are stuck on a narrow block. So, while I do not advocate taking down traffic lights of course, the drivers are in a pickle they should never have been involved in.

  3. I feel bad for the driver. Although he should be held responsible, i can definitely empathize with that feeling of despair he probably felt as he first realized he’s taking down that pole. There is no way out of that once he was that close. With a lack of options, panic is the surest way. He should be judged with that in mind.

  4. HumbleOpinion – you’re right in my humble opinion.

If the township doesn’t take action to ban certain roads to certain trucks, believe one of the other solutions is to contact the mapping providers for truck specific GPS (Garmin, Tomtom, Copilot etc ), so they could note some of our roads as inaccessible for some trucks.
