In response to the horrific shooting shooting attack in Jersey City, Lakewood has stepped up patrols around schools and other locations in town, Police Chief Greg Meyer told TLS.
“We have already ramped our patrols based on the events of yesterday,” says Chief Meyer. “The County will be supplementing our additional patrols as well.”
The stepped up patrols come in response to the preliminary indications the attack may have been a targeted one.
“We are not taking any chances, and will do whatever in our power to ensure the safety of all residents in Lakewood,” the Chief says.
He added, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the killed and injured. This is a tragedy beyond comprehension.”
The Chief once again reminds residents, “Remember, if you see something, say something, and call 911.”
Chief: Can I suggest that maybe cops drive with their lights on (not flashing). This practice is in effect in many other cities in NJ
