A saga that unfortunately scarred many parents and children is finally coming to an end, with the placement of the last two Lakewood girls who were without a school.
An Askan directly involved with the day-to-day ins and outs of the situation told TLS the remaining girls will hopefully be placed by this evening.
“It was a very unfortunate situation, but it is a numbers issue,” he said.
But the Askan says that although this helps the issue temporarily, a permanent solution needs to be found – and that’s by opening more schools.
“There are talks about opening new schools, but not enough,” he said.
The school year should not be starting for anyone unless every single child has a place to go for school!!!!
That is beyond sad!!
Yes, we need more schools but we also need brave parents & girls.
It’s not easy being the guinea pig.
It’s hard to do research on a brand new school.
These are teenagers were talking about.
Not too much room (or years) for trial & error.
We need existing elementary schools to expand into high school giving it the chinuch background it needs.
And we need money. Girls schools are not nearly as well funded as boys yeshivos & mesiftos.
Much Hatzlocha to the graduating class of 2020 iH!
Baruch Hashem! perhaps I am naive, but why couldn’t all this have been worked out before the school year started?
What about elementary girls? I know a few that are still out of school.
I know of 2 girls still not in schools. No one should be ‘invisible’!
NO bashing allowed unless YOU did everything you could to help the situation!!
Im so happy for the high schoolers that’s are finally in school! What about the elementary school girls that are still not in school??
Fake news.
I heard there are still 11 girls out of school. This is fake news
I firmly believe it is the responsibility or the “developers and realtors “ to set aside funds for new schools and new infrastructure . They are responsible for overdevelopment and overcrowding . They have brought many many families here and should be responsible to have schools systems in place , Yeshiva’s and like .
They have profited tremendously and truthfully it is not fair to make this everyone else’s responsibility. There should be a formula for every house and townhouse sold to someone that is being transported and , or transplanted here . Those monies should be going to schools and Yeshivas and the like. And furthermore, since many people don’t like being Guiana pigs in a new school system maybe the developers children and grandchildren should be going to these schools to be “ Mechazek those schools !
Why could they place before school started? They missed 3 months of school!
Schools should not be allowed to open in September unless ever single child in Lakewood has a school. I am pretty sue this issue would have been resolved in a number of days if that would be the case….
I know of a 9 year old girl who still does not have a school..
I love when “askanim” keep saying that this is a numbers game. Can someone let me know if they’ve ever seen people with money and yichus get caught in this “numbers game”? Just curious.
What do you want the h.s. to do They have 46 kids in a class….and schools that don’t want to put more then 30 kids in a class look like they are being selfish..ITS NOT THE school FAULT ….not enough slots ….not enough schools …
Almost every girl that is not in school has the opportunity to go to school. They choose not to go to a specific school.
my favorite part of this is when the parents sceam about the big classes and about the girls out of school. its either one or the other
This is NOT true!!!!!!! I know my niece is one of 15 who are not yet in school! Wonderful top girls who are sitting home waiting for the schools to have rachmanus on them! Girls who are from super fine families and each waiting….. the year is up to chanuka and schools will not acquiesce to take in more girls. And not because of frumkeit! The schools said they’d be honored to have some of these girls if they had room- so let another top school take them…….
Yes this is fake news!! I know an 8 yr old girl who still needs a school and a high school kid that never got a slot– where is the VAAD? How can this continue til almost Chanukah? Shouldnt it their perogative to tackle this obvious problem, by pulling together the ppl and funds to open something new and to push schools to squeeze in these last couple girls??
If classes are large, push schools to open parallels and higher extra assistants….etc. THIS IS MORE IMPORTANT!
Yes. I have seen people with very big money nd with yichus caught in this numbers game . Not everybody with money can but their way in to a school when there is such a shortage .
Who exactly are the people and funds that are supposed to be pushed to make these expansions happen ? How dies the vaad have access to funds?
