Letter: The Jersey City Shooting – Ocean County Freeholders Silent On Hate Right Under Their Noses

By Tobiah Wechsler.

They say sometimes actions speak louder than words. That sentiment is most true when both words and actions remain silent. Ocean County’s Board of Chosen Freeholders annually pander for Lakewood votes and each year, we oblige. During elections, Freeholders and the Ocean County Sheriff line up at our doors for support and campaign contributions.

I am appalled that this week, they have all been silent on the hate that breeds within their own party in Jackson Township. A well-planned terrorist style execution of Orthodox Jews in Jersey City was just carried out, resulting in the deaths of four innocent victims including a Jersey City police officer.

After the shooting, a very strong anti-Jewish sentiment was recorded in the streets of Jersey City with absolutely no remorse or concern for the safety of the Jewish population, some even blaming the Jewish community for the attack because they chose to move into the neighborhood.

The same hate is breeding right now in Ocean County against Orthodox Jews and the silence of our Ocean County leadership, including the Board of Freeholders, the Ocean County Sheriff and GOP Chairman Frank Holman is deafening.

They continue allow a hate incubator in their own party in Jackson Township to continue to flourish and thrive and do not stop it. They continue to allow their party officials in Jackson spew hate and fear amongst Jackson resident of the Jewish people.

Recent documents, audio and facebook posts by leaders of the Jackson Club prove without a reasonable doubt that the local party is behind the hate. There are many logical and reasonable issues that must be dealt with in Ocean County, that is without a doubt, but by feeding the fires of hate, the party leadership is only setting the table for a terrible incident to occur right here in Lakewood and Jackson, which is why the Ocean County Prosecutor, Lakewood and Jackson police departments have heightened security in the area in light of the attacks.

The threat is real. They need to act before there is blood in our own streets. It will be on their hands.

  1. FREEHOLDERS..STOP ALLOWING REINA AND GLORY TO PEDDLE THEIR HATE..BLOOD WILL BE ON YOUR HAND..ALL JEWS ARE NOT CRIMINALS MRS GLORY..PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND YOUR BUDDY REINA ARE WHATS WRONG WITH SOCIETY

  2. Many of the Jackson people are merely members of the Republican Club which is NOT a government organization. That is not to say that their outrageous behavior should be tolerated by the Club, but that is their decision as a private club.

Some of the Jackson people mentioned, such as Glory, Reina, Colagero, Nixon, etc. were elected to their districts by Jackson Voters, by ballot. Their removal is either by violation of GOP rules (which are not clear cut in cases like this) but definitely by vote, resignation or proof of criminal activity through due process. That means: investigation, evidence, prosecution and conviction at the State and likely the Federal level and that legal process via lawsuit is currently taking place with success.

Make no mistake that this is taken very seriously by the Ocean County GOP Chairman Holman and others elected to the county and especially State Senator Singer but the process is not an easy one where politics is involved. In the private and law enforcement sectors, this would be cause for removal simply by violation of company and agency rules.
