Last week, Lakewood School District General Counsel Michael Inzelbuch, at the request of Board President Moshe Bender and Superintendent Laura Winters, met with numerous community stakeholders as to the availability of State funding to enhance nonpublic security in coordination with Lakewood Police.
The meeting comes in the wake of the Jersey City attack, as institutions look for ways to increase security.
“State funding administered by the District exists to further enhance security of nonpublic schools to the tune of approximately $5 million dollars,” says Inzelbuch. “Permissible uses according to State guidelines are security guards, exterior and interior improvements – such as video installation, and other forms of allowable expenses that relate to security.”
Inzelbuch added, “In addition to monies available to nonpublic schools and children, the public schools have 21 armed security specialists who are former police personnel, and the district is actively seeking three additional personnel.”

enough with the cameras! get an armed (muscular) guard at EVERY entrance! It should be mandatory just as smoke alarms are!
Cameras are a good deterrent, and history teller, but only thewatching eye of Hashem [G-D] can protect us
We are permitted to do Hishtadlus [steps of human effort] , which in the present situation, be armed guards.
How many school mass shootings happen is Isreal?
None! Why? Teachers and staff openly carry weapons.
Almost no one is going into a place to harm others when individuals inside might be armed.
Many thanks to Michael Inzelbuch for running the public schools safely.
With all honors, for the well meaning politicians;
Just to add , Think Big, $5 million for ? number of locations, or a fund drive of $50 Million, to finance our responsibility to the safety of our community.
Thank you for you efforts, and above all we hope and Pray for the best.
