In 2013, members of then-Governor Chris Christie’s administration conspired to have lanes on the George Washington Bridge closed as political retribution for the mayor of Ft. Lee’s refusal to endorse Christie for a second term as governor, in a scandal that became to be known as Bridgegate.
Some are now questioning whether we are seeing Bridgegate 2.0 taking place.
Repairs on Route 47, near where President Trump is holding a campaign rally today, began on Monday, January 20th. The Department of Transportation says those repairs are necessary to close up potholes that are a danger to passing traffic. But the timing of the repairs have many wondering whether those repairs are nothing more than a way to hamper attendance at the rally.
Over 100,000 ticket requests were made for the event, and tens of thousands have already converged on the site in Wildwood. With thousands more on the roads heading to Wildwood for the rally and Route 47 undergoing repairs, traffic heading to the rally has been seriously impacted.
If the road repairs were completely necessary at this time due to hazards posed to drivers, then it is completely appropriate for them to do them now instead of beginning repairs after the rally. But if the closures are indeed politically-motivated and being done as a way to mess with supporters of President Trump, then a harsh punishment should be in order for those who are behind it.
Hint: Usually road construction is announced months in advance.
Are you serious? Have you done any research? The road closed off is a side road, and barely affected anyone. The repair was announced months ago and work begun weeks ago. This is just media hype and bill spadea speaking. I actually drive down there every day. It is the most overrated news story yet.
#Gabriel The repair was not announced months ago.. the road closure was announced like a day before The Trump campaign made their official announcement – don’t you think the officials may have known a bit before the official Announcement? Granted, bidding went out A few months ago to repair the road but the decision to go ahead and close the road and determine it wasn’t safe until the repairs were done was decided a mere few hours before the “Official Announcement” Very convenient…
Oh please! This is so farfetched, childish & ridiculous! Obviously many, many people had no trouble getting to the rally. You’re just giving ammunition to those who put down Trump supporters as a bunch of ignorant “deplorables”. Use your brains & don’t give us a bad name!
