Hey look, some positive news about living in New Jersey. According to a new study by a life insurance company, the Garden State is tied for third place in life expectancy.
Termlife2go, an insurance company, analyzed the life expectancy rates for each US state, according to statistics provided by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluations. They found that every state is has a life expectancy of at least 74.5 years, with a handful, including New Jersey, having life expectancies of over 80 years.
New Jersey sits in 3rd place with Minnesota with an average life expectancy of 80.7 years. New York comes in just behind NJ at 80.6 years. The state with the longest average life expectancy is Hawaii, at 81.5 years.
While it isn’t clear exactly what affects longevity, eating healthy and regular exercise has been shown to increase lifespans.
