Since President Trump took the bold step to order the assassination of Iranian commander and worldwide terrorist Qassem Soleimani, Democrats have been fumbling around looking for a way to spin the move as reckless, terrible, and ultimately counterproductive.

Immediately following the successful operation, Democrats took to the airwaves warning of attacks against American military personnel and political figures. Comparing the killing of Soleimani to the assassination of the US Secretary of Defense, they told us that the president had put every American in grave danger and that massive attacks would be forthcoming from Iran and its proxies. Well, that didn’t happen. Instead, Iran shot a dozen missiles at a US base in Iraq and harmed nobody.

Then the Democrats started delving into the strike itself, saying that Trump illegally bypassed Congress. But where were they when President Obama ordered over 500 drone strikes without Congressional consent? When Obama did it it was okay, but now that Trump ordered one they are losing their minds? Welcome to politics in 2020.

Furthermore, Democrats bent themselves backwards insisting that Soleimani wasn’t really a threat to the United States and that killing him was for no cause. Pardon me, but are these people nuts? Soleimani was one of the most dangerous terrorists in the world. He was in charge of multiple Iranian proxies across the globe, and gave orders to dozens of sleeper cells and Iran-affiliated groups throughout the world. He was behind the recent attack on the American embassy in Baghdad and intelligence showed that he was planning further attacks on US interests in the region.

As things stand right now, the assassination of Qassem Soleimani was not only the correct thing to do, it is now also one of President Trump’s most significant accomplishments to date. He rid the world of a terrible, murderous animal, and should be thanked and congratulated for his decisiveness.

But instead of at least not attacking him, Democrats are focusing on always being on the attack against Trump, hoping that they will get enough Americans to hate him that they can win in 2020. I don’t know about you, but I think they are looking mighty silly right now.
