Supporters Camping Out Ahead Of Trump Rally In Wildwood

Massive crowds are expected at President Trump’s rally in Wildwood, NJ on Tuesday.

As earlier reported, event organizers say they have received over 100,000 ticket requests, while the Wildwoods Convention Center has a seating capacity of just 7,500.

Many hardy individuals, intent on getting into the rally, set up camp on Sunday afternoon, 48 hours before the rally start time. Bringing tents, cots, lawn chairs and a bundle of determination they are hopeful that their early arrival will guarantee them a seat in the packed venue where they can see and hear Trump firsthand.

One person who went early to the rally told TLS that he wasn’t taking any chances.

“I love President Trump and this might be my only chance to see and hear him up close. I’m not giving up this once in a lifetime opportunity.”

The early arrival of hopeful rally attendees also serves as a warning for many who are planning to go. Thousands of rally-goers will inevitably be left outside the convention center, and will need to watch the rally on screens that are expected to be set up outside the venue.

President Trump will be the first sitting president to visit Wildwood, and the first to go to Cape May County since Benjamin Harrison in the 1890’s.

The Democratic mayor of Wildwood, Pete Byron, said that the town will forward all costs of the ‘Keep America Great’ rally to the Trump campaign. But with most hotels in the area completely booked and rally attendees expected to spend at local stores, the town is likely to see net positive gains from the rally.

Wildwood is in the district of Jeff Van Drew, the Congressman who recently flipped parties in protest of impeachment proceedings. President Trump’s rally is intended to shore up support for Van Drew in the upcoming Republican primary for the seat, which is expected to be a tough fight for him.

The rally will take place at 7 PM on Tuesday at the Wildwoods Convention Center, 4501 Boardwalk, Wildwood, NJ 08260.
