BREAKING: Governor Murphy To Undergo Surgery To Remove Kidney Tumor

Governor Phil Murphy says that doctors have recently found a cancerous tumor on his left kidney.

Murphy said that the tumor was found during a routine gastrointestinal checkup. He said that doctors caught the tumor at an early stage and are confident that they will be able to fully remove the tumor without further complications. Doctors do not believe that he will need to undergo chemotherapy or radiation to fight the growth.

The surgery to remove the growth from Murphy’s kidney is expected to take place at a hospital in New York City in early March after which he will be hospitalized for several days and then spend some time recovering at his home. Lt. Governor Shiela Oliver will serve as acting Governor while Murphy recovers.
