Jackson Officials Ordered To Turn Over Facebook Accounts In Oros Bais Yaakov Lawsuit | G. Sonnenfeld

A judge has ordered three current and former Jackson Township officials turn over their Facebook accounts to the Court.

Judge Marlene Lynch Ford, presiding over the Oros Bais Yaakov vs. Jackson Township lawsuit, signed the order on February 20th to compel John Suttles, Carl Book Jr., and Scott Martin to hand over their Facebook account details, after they ignored a previous order to do so. The judge has given them 14 days to comply with the Court’s demand.

John Suttles and Scott Martin are former Jackson officials – Suttles was a zoning board member, while Martin was a Councilman – and Carl Book Jr. currently serves as the chairman of the zoning board. It is believed that posts they made on their Facebook accounts may provide the court with greater insight into whether Jackson Township discriminated against Oros Bais Yaakov, thus prompting the order to turn over their accounts, which they have until now refused to do.

Some have questioned why, if there is no “there there,” Suttles, Book Jr. and Martin would ignore the court’s order to see their social media accounts. “The simple fact that they are unwilling to turn over their Facebook accounts to court scrutiny seems pretty damning to me in and of itself,” one activist told TLS. “If they had nothing to hide, they wouldn’t be hiding. And yet they are.”

  1. I wouldn’t want my FB account to be made public even if I had nothing to hide. I think they do have something to hide, but not wanting to give it over does not tell me that they do.

  2. This is gr8 news. I’m sorry it took a lawsuit and a judge order to get to this but too bad. Jackson Twsp officials’ behavior is disgusting, on all levels. Why they cant take a page from their Tom’s River neighbors is beyond me.
