Kiddush Levana update | Rabbi M. Flohr

Tonight, Thurs. night (2/27) –  There will be a לבנה visible in Lakewood and surrounding areas, from 6 PM until 9 PM.

NOTE: It will be very windy (gusts to 35 mph) and windchill of 17 degrees.

מוצאי ש”ק פ’ תרומה – there will be a לבנה visible in our area. From 6:45 PM until approx. 11 PM. Early on it will be mostly clear and from approx. 7:15 until 9:15 it will be mostly cloudy and from 9:15 it should clear up again. NOTE: After 11 PM the moon will not be visible (it will set and be below the horizon).

NOTE: For those who wait to say until ז’ שלמים, the first night to say is Sunday night.

(It’s too early to give accurate information for next week, but Sunday and Monday look good and also Thursday 3/5).

IMPORTANT: The latest time to say THIS month is Sunday night ליל י”ג אדר(acc. to both the Mechaber and Rema). Monday night (ליל פורים) is more than 15 days from the molad and is TOO late.

  1. When you look up at the moon tonight, you will also see Venus!

Although it appears side-by-side, Venus is 84 MILLION miles from Earth, while the moon is just 250,000 miles away.
