Lakewood Police Department introduces ‘Shop with a Cop’

The Lakewood Police Department today rolled out its newest Initiative – ‘Shop with a Cop’.

The initiative, by Police Chief Greg Meyer, aims to give residents – and especially children – the ability to ask police officers whatever is on their mind, in a family-friendly setting.

“Whether it be about security, the Department’s operations or anything else, we want our residents to feel comfortable with our officers and feel safe knowing we have their backs,” says Chief Meyer.

The first event will take place this Friday, February 21st, at Gourmet Glatt north, 1700 Madison Avenue, between 12:30-2:30

During the event, police will be giving out magnets, candies and more – while supplies last.

  1. Sure felt like I needed to “Shop with a cop” this evening when leaving the stores on 2nd Street and heading to my car! The atmosphere is frightening for a woman and her children to say the least….can the cops do anything to be more present downtown at that hour???
