Reader-submitted: From a successful Kiruv organization to complete bankruptcy

[Submitted by a Menahel in Lakewood] Dear fellow TLS readers,

My first cousin has run a successful Kiruv organization in the Galil for many years. The organization’s needs increased along with its growth, and in order to expand the program, they took out bank loans which my cousin personally guaranteed.

They proved to be better at Kiruv than fundraising, however, and by the time they realized that they couldn’t keep up with their obligations, they owed tens of thousands of dollars. At that point they restructured, and began paying down their loans. Although half of the debt has been repaid, the banks are no longer patient and they froze my cousin’s account and garnished his and his wife’s salaries.

At this point, they literally cannot afford to buy food for the family.

I have undertaken to raise $7200, which will lift the banks’ liens on their accounts and will allow them to continue life as ‘normal’.

Please join me in participating in this great מצוה.

Tizku L’miztvos.
