Let’s try it again! After NASA’s planned launch of a rocket to the International Space Station on Sunday was scrubbed just three minutes before launch time due to what they say were “off-nominal readings from a ground support sensor,” they announced a new launch time – Friday at 3:43 PM.
The Northrop Grumman Antares rocket to be launched from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia will be carrying a Cygnus spacecraft loaded with approximately 7,500 pounds of crew supplies, research and hardware, that will dock with the International Space Station on Sunday just after 5 AM.
And here’s the best part. The rocket launch will likely be visible from Lakewood.
NASA officials say that the flight path of the rocket will make it visible to most of southern New Jersey, weather-permitting, with the likelihood of seeing it coming about 2 minutes after launch. With mostly clear skies forecast for Friday, the likelihood of seeing it is pretty good.
If you are interested in catching a glimpse of the Antares rocket as it blasts off for space, look towards the south/southeast sky at 3:45 PM on Friday. If seen, the rocket will likely look like a small orange orb heading upwards.
If you do catch it, don’t forget to send your pictures and videos to TLS at [email protected] or text/WhatsApp them to 609-661-8668!
Rocket launch has been postponed due to high-level upper winds until Shabbos afternoon at 3:21 PM
