BREAKING: Lakewood Police Chief Greg Meyer announces police begin issuing summonses for non-compliance during this health emergency

Today, Lakewood police have been responding to numerous calls around town, dispersing large gatherings and crowds, and Police Chief Greg Meyer says they will be cracking down.

“Due to the number of calls and complaints about gatherings and groups of people over 50, the police department is issuing summons to the property owners,” Police Chief Greg Meyer told TLS. “This type of conduct unnecessarily exposes our officers to having to respond and interact with persons.”

The Chief added, “The reason for the Governor’s ban is to reduce the spread of the virus through social distancing. The risk to the officers and public while we respond to these types of calls puts the rest of the public at harm. This takes manpower to answer these calls and needs to stop. We take these types of incidents as careless and unnecessary.”
