BREAKING: Urgent message from Dr. Shanik: All playgroups and learning groups must be disbanded immediately

As per Dr. Shanik, as well as other Lakewood doctors, all playgroups and learning groups must be disbanded immediately.

Due to the danger of the virus and the increasing number of sick people in the community, we must take this very seriously and avoid all groups, of any size.

This includes babysitting groups, groups learning with rebbeim, and any other kind of group. No Rebbe may meet with ANY talmidim in ANY location.

Learning may ONLY take place over the phone.

These changes must take place immediately.

  1. Once we are going all out, let’s also close all the shuls, mikvois and stores, and lock everyone up in their homes for 14 days. No, lets do 28 day. No, still not enough caution, but I think 3 month would really do it.
How about facing the reality as it is now! Not some projected end of the world model from Italy or Iran.

    • if we take no precautions how exactly do you expect this not to turn into an italy and iran situation ch’v?! wake up before its too late r’l!

    • @whistleblower Well, your name suits you. Whistleblower translates loosely in Yiddish to a “Feifer” (פייפער), which is used to describe a scoffer. Well, scoffers are the ones who pay the price….

  3. While your point would make sense if spreading would freeze and we would be left with the status quo- this is far far from the case. The virus is at least a week ahead of us. Would you have imagined on Purim that multiple people would be on respiratorstoday? Use that thought process to imagine what next week, and the week after can bring if this continues to multiply exponentially.

    • what is happening with playgroup tuition?
I am not getting paid from my office job, because I have to be home to be with my kids, so are we getting refunded playgroup tuition??

  4. The real way it should be is that everyone should stay home except for food shopping and work. Period. It should then pass in a couple of weeks. This is not a joke.

  5. even if you don’t take it seriously, please have some rachmunis on klal yisroel. At least you can say that you did your part in trying to follow the direction of Morei Horaha to remove this from our midst. From a financial perspective, There are so so so many people who lost all their income and have no idea when the next penny will be coming. (many many families will not even be getting unemployment as they are not on salary) Basic bein adam lechaveiro, please do your part. use the Beshvili Nivra Ha’olem to be mekedash hashem.

  6. What an unnecessary hysteria to have to go in middle of the Day to pick up our children from day care/play groups, for them to go home and play with all the children in the complex.
After all, they are, from what we see in China and Italy, the safest from this virus.

  7. If people are stupid enough to let their kids play with all the neighbors kids in the complex there’s not much we can do to save them!
Should we send police to check backyards and complex???
Are we waiting for a death in Lakewood to wake up? Most places already understood the importance of being careful, sadly in this town it’s not so yet!!

    • Dear friends: I am a non-orthodox jew, son f a holocaust survivor, who just read about these weddings, yeshivas opened, shuls with services. I am saddened that this is happening, and that police had been called upon us..

People without symptoms could be shedding virus particles. So no one know who is or is not healthy. If a child gets infected, he may have no symptoms in some cases, but when he goes home, he will transmit to anyone including mother, father, grandmother, etc. The only way we can stay alive is to stay home, with your family. Please read CDC. etc
Do not attend any gatherings. PLEASE. .
I have been seeing for months what is happening in other countries, and what is happening in Lakewood is potentially creating a very bad situation. WE do not have enough hospitals, doctors, ventilators, funeral homes, and graveyards. Corpses are still potentially infectious. . There is no cure, just support therapy. The biggest thing in the Bible is to SAVE LIVES.
Everything could be delayed for 1-2 month, then we can have weddings, shul services, meetings, etc, later. IF we can not postpone, then it will be on us. If we are not part of the solution, we are the problem.
