MONOC Ceases Operations, Dissolves Into Two Hospital Systems

As of Wednesday morning, MONOC ceased its operations, ending its tenure as the primary provider of paramedic services for Monmouth and Ocean counties, which it had done for more than 40 years.

MONOC, officially named Monmouth Ocean Hospital Services Corp., is dissolving into two hospital carriers, Hackensack Meridian Health and RWJBarnabas Health, and the transition has reportedly gone flawlessly. Paramedic units from the two hospitals have already been responding and providing Advanced Life Services, without any noted interruption to care.

TLS previously reported on the planned closure of MONOC on April 1 due to a challenging financial environment caused by declining reimbursements for services coupled with the increasing costs of running a high-quality medical care operation.
